Frequently Asked Questions
How much will live music at my wedding reception cost?
Our Duo offers a great rate for Brisbane, Gold Coast, Northern Rivers wedding receptions at $1295, including up to 5 hours. This is inclusive of travel, setup time, equipment, sound and lights. You can upgrade to a trio for just $350. Contact us for a quote outside of these areas, we often travel for wedding gigs. Should I hire the Duo or Trio? Both are great products for wedding receptions, this decision will largely depend on your budget, the space available, and the dynamic you want to achieve. The Duo is nice and compact and can play great acoustic versions of both dinner ballads and upbeat songs. The Trio adds a drummer which is especially advantageous for when your guests want to dance and party. How many Sets will the band play? We typically play for 40mins in each hour which is industry standard. This is flexible and we do work around formalities and take instruction from your MC. We can supply recorded music to play during these breaks, or use an iPod playlist supplied by you. 5 hours is our maximum booking (playing and singing are physically demanding!), This is 5 hours between our first note, and last note that we play. When should the band start? Is 5 hours enough? We usually recommend starting our performance from the start of the reception. This will see us play through dinner, dessert and a couple of sets of dancing. If you have some real party animals still hanging on after 5 hours, this is often a good time to let an iPod or a jukebox takeover as the Timewarp and Gangnam Style requests start to come out! We can be hired to DJ after our performance time if required. When will the band setup? We always arrive an hour before we are due to start, in order to setup, this is already included in our price. If you do require for an earlier setup, this can be arranged with with a fee. Contact us for a more specific quote. How loud will it be? We're very approachable, and are there to please you, so we can reasonably be as loud or quiet as you would like us to be. In saying that, it's important to know that with real instruments and live music there is a minimum volume that we can realistically operate within. Occasionally venues are imposed unrealistic decibel limits by council, so it's important to check. If your venue has a severe dB limit under 85dB, I would encourage you to research just how limiting that may be on your event. For Trio gigs, our drummers are very sensitive and play with brushes and rods to keep the volume to an ambient level. As the bands speakers and instruments will be the source of the volume, it's best to give us a little space from the tables. This helps us spread the sound more evenly. It may be worth thinking about placing those guest who will appreciate the music closest to the band, and those more sensitive a little further. |
Can we use the band's microphone?
You're more than welcome to use our microphones at any stage for announcements and speeches. It will be available any time throughout the 5 hour booked time. This includes free use of our wireless mic for your MC! What does the band require us to supply? We're fully self sufficient and all we require is a nearby powerpoint, and somebody to point out where to setup. We do also very much appreciate a service meal when wedding parties are kind enough to provide us with one. It's helpful if you can ask the venue where the best place to load-in, and to park is. For city venues we do ask that our parking be arranged. It’s also important to find out if there are any sound restrictions that we should be aware of. Can you learn songs for us? Song learning time is not something that we've factored into our price, which is one way that we're able to offer what we believe to be a very competitive rate. If you have any songs chosen for specific events throughout the night (entry, first dance etc) we can arrange to bring them along on the ipod to play for you at those times, or you are welcome to choose from our repertoire list If you have rehearsed choreography for your dance, it's often best to go with the recording, and therefore the tempo and structure that you have rehearsed to. What songs will the band play? For wedding receptions we generally look after the set lists for you, playing it by ear when it comes to the repertoire. We start out with our more 'low key', 'dinner music suitable' songs to play during your meal and build up to more upbeat songs later as people become ready to party/dance, taking any requests along the way if we happen to know them. There’s a fairly comprehensive repertoire list here Can I meet with the band? In the interest of keeping our fees low, we endeavour to organise everything over email, phone, or Skype. We especially love email as it makes it easy for us to look back over exactly what we've discussed. If you are keen to meet the band in person, we'll try to get you along to one of our public gigs. Send us an email and we'll give you a link to our calendar. How do I book? Send us an email - we're really friendly! Tell us where and when you're having your wedding reception, and then we'll get back to you with our availability. When you're ready to formalise your booking, we'll send you an invoice for a $200 deposit to secure the date. The balance is payable two weeks before your wedding date. |
